Alley of Heroes is a modern and very interesting pedestrian area, which is organized in the middle of Zhiuli Shartava Street in the Orbi skyscraper area in New Batumi. The wide boulevard was opened after a long reconstruction in 2024 and has become a favorite place for walking for both locals and tourists.

The alley stretches from Bagrationi Street, which runs deep in Batumi, to the sea embankment, or more precisely, to the coastal Lake Ardogani.

Here you will find two gorgeous pedestrian bridges with stunning views, many benches, gazebos, flower beds, recreation areas and art objects, which we will tell you about in a little more detail.

What to see on the Alley of Heroes?

Black Sea Arch

The main attraction of the Alley is a unique arch, visible from any point on the boulevard. It is located at the intersection of the Alley with Tbel-Abuseridze Street. The arch is good to photograph from afar, or to walk next to it on the pedestrian bridge, leaving the busy traffic below.

“Rotation”

This sculpture crowns the Alley of Heroes where it reaches the sea. It is located in the center of the circle where cars move, and you can’t get to it. But you can see it from the amazing pedestrian bridge!

This is a dynamic sculpture, and, as you might guess, its author is Tamar Kvesitadze, the author of the famous sculpture “Ali and Nino”.

“Frozen Fountain”

This “fountain” is located very close to “Rotation”, at the very beginning of the pedestrian boulevard. Additionally, in the evening, illumination is projected onto this artistic object, making it part of the magical show of the Singing Fountains.

Monument to Zhiuli Shartava

The monument to the man after whom the street that contains the alley is named is located very close to the “Frozen Fountain”, not far from the sea. Zhiuli Shartava was a Georgian politician who died during the Civil War in the 90s of the last century. He was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Georgia, which is why the Alley received this name.
