Best Hotels in Georgia
The biggest problem with the countless rankings of the best hotels in Georgia is objectivity. For some reason, someone decided to put together a particular list and decided that their selection is the right one. But why that list? Can the opinion of one person (even the most experienced traveler) claim to be objective?
I travel a lot myself, but can I visit every top place to test it? No.
So how do you pick the truly best of the best?
I puzzled over this question and realized that the best approach is to trust the reviews of other travelers. And not from just one platform, but from several of the most popular ones. The most reliable source of reviews is Booking.com. Only guests who have actually stayed at a property can leave reviews there. That’s why I gave Booking more weight when calculating the overall rating. Google Maps and Yandex Maps are the next most popular platforms in Georgia, so I factored in their ratings too. Other marketplaces and sites/maps lag far behind these three, so it made no sense to include them.
To rule out inflated reviews as much as possible, I set a minimum threshold of several hundred reviews. Lots of comments give a more objective picture.
The more reviews a property has, the harder it is to keep the bar high. And if a hotel has thousands of them and still a high rating, it can only mean that the hotel is incredibly good and you can book it without worry.
How I selected the best hotels. First, I picked a hundred of the highest-rated hotels on Booking with at least 500 reviews. Then I found them on the maps and took their ratings from there. By adding up the ratings from the three platforms, I got an overall score. Based on that score, I put together the top 15. It all took dozens of hours. I hope it was worth it.
One of my fears was that the ranking would consist only of global chain brands. And I’m very glad that turned out not to be the case. It turns out that small hotels can easily compete with the big players. Their key to success is people, and often the owners themselves. They may not be able to offer a lavish breakfast or an indoor pool, but they will definitely be more attentive to you than big hotels.
One more indirect criterion I used (it changed the ranking by just 1 position) is how often a hotel is mentioned in the media and on social networks. You’ll agree: if well-known publications write about a hotel again and again, it’s probably worth a closer look. If stories from a hotel regularly pop up in your Instagram feed, it’s popular and photogenic enough.
So, if you combine the rating with media mentions and popularity, the top 3 hotels in Georgia would look like this:

These are the ones I’d look at first. They don’t just offer a comfortable bed and welcoming staff — they’re also a feast for the eyes. It’s not just a place to stay, it’s an unforgettable experience.
But if you go by reviews alone, see the list below.
To keep the article from getting huge, I’ll write as little as possible about each hotel (their ratings and number of reviews speak for them best). I think it’s much more important for you to know the location and the main highlights than to spend hours reading only to realize that 90% of the hotels aren’t on your route or don’t match what you’re looking for.

Ranking of Hotels in Georgia
1. Kazma Boutique Hotel
Tbilisi, Mtatsminda

First place goes to a small boutique hotel a stone’s throw from Freedom Square — on quiet Zurab Zhvania Street, a five-minute walk from Rustaveli Avenue. Officially it’s a four-star hotel, but guests feel it’s something else.
Almost every other review is about the people rather than the rooms: some guests were brought a plate of churchkhela and dried fruit at check-in, others were given mugs as a keepsake, and during a snowfall with power outages the staff went around and warned guests in advance.
In general, if you look at the reviews of the top 5 hotels on the list, two out of three mention the staff. Attention and care are the most valued part of the hospitality business.
The rooms are clean, with large bathrooms and good mattresses, and guests praise them too. The only thing people nitpick about is the simple breakfast. But judging by the rating, nobody was particularly upset about it.
2. Eco House Merisi
Adjara, Keda Municipality, Merisi

The very “glass” hotel in the mountains above Batumi that I’ve written about many times in various selections (by the way, I’m glad I was right about it several years ago). In 4 years it hasn’t dropped out of the top — on the contrary, it now has one and a half thousand reviews on Google Maps, more than any five-star hotel on this list.
Eco House Merisi is a new hotel format that simply didn’t exist in Georgia before it (let me remind you that they were the first in the world to come up with this bedroom design). Besides the legendary cottages with jacuzzis, a couple of villas with their own heated pools have been added (I haven’t seen anything like it anywhere else in Georgia). There are also more cottages now. Photo spots have appeared on the grounds, along with a restaurant with a gorgeous view and tasty food (judging by guests’ comments).
Reviews most often mention the views and nature, as well as the staff — a combination you rarely see. And almost everyone repeats the same thing: “reality turned out to be more beautiful than the photos.” A dream hotel — what more can I say?!
Merisi regularly appears not only in Georgian but also in international lists of the most unusual and beautiful hotels. If you need one place in Georgia for a photo shoot, this is it. And it’s probably the most romantic hotel in the country.
High season here lasts all year round. Even in winter: who doesn’t dream of relaxing in a warm jacuzzi on the veranda overlooking snow-capped mountains!
As far as I know, this is the only hotel outside the cities with its own budget transfer. So getting here isn’t a problem.

3. Nika Hotel and Club
Adjara, Shuakhevi Municipality, Chanchkhalo village

The second new-format hotel and essentially Merisi’s neighbor — the same mountainous Adjara, only Shuakhevi instead of Keda, about 80 kilometers from Batumi. There are only four cottages in the whole complex, so it’s truly quiet here.
An outdoor heated pool with mountain views, jacuzzis in the rooms, and food from the menu can be served to your cottage, the gazebo, the terrace or any spot you like. Want it in the pool? No problem! There’s a signature floating set that’s hugely popular with bloggers. A park with photo spots is the hotel’s unique feature. And the cute goats and calf are every guest’s favorites.
Nika, like Merisi, features in international rankings of unusual hotels and in Instagram feeds (Georgia has only two hotels mentioned this often). The same formula: mountains, silence, beauty and very hospitable hosts.
This glamping site fell just short of 500 reviews on Booking, but unlike all the hotels below, it gets a lot of coverage in the media and on social networks. That’s why I included it in the top, but moved it down one position since it didn’t have enough reviews (although it has plenty in total, including several hundred on Booking itself).

4. S&L Boutique Hotel
Tbilisi, Vake

A small boutique hotel in Vake, a green, quiet district away from the tourist center. You’ll need a taxi to get to the Old Town, but at night people here actually get to sleep.
The main surprise is a pool and a small gym in a hotel of this size. Almost a third of guests praise them.
The staff is mentioned often, and even guests who honestly write that the interior is no longer new call the cleanliness outstanding. The hotel has a set of house rules, and guests specifically thank it for them — that’s exactly what keeps the place quiet.

5. Makos Guest House
Kutaisi, Imereti

A guest house on a hill above Kutaisi, a five-to-ten-minute walk from Bagrati Cathedral. The city noise doesn’t reach up here, and the terrace offers a view over all of Kutaisi.
The staff is mentioned in 84% of reviews — a record for the entire ranking. It’s all about the hostess, of course: breakfasts that guests call a feast, a kitchen at guests’ disposal, an extra bed on the first request, motorcycles welcome in the yard.
The rooms are clean and spacious, and the shower room has everything you need. There’s exactly one downside: walking uphill with a suitcase is questionable fun. But taxis in Georgia cost next to nothing, and many people arrive by car anyway. Personally, slopes don’t scare me. On the contrary, I always try to climb higher for a beautiful view.

6. 1 Hotel Borjomi
Borjomi, Samtskhe-Javakheti

A new four-star hotel in the center of Borjomi, a five-to-ten-minute walk from the entrance to the national park. For Borjomi, that’s probably the deciding factor.
Breakfast gets the most praise in reviews. Pancakes are made right in front of you, and if you bring your own khachapuri, they’ll warm it up for you. There’s also a rooftop terrace with mountain views, and everyone flocks to it.
Everything is new and clean, and prices are moderate. But there’s a catch: complaints about the staff do come up (the highest rate in the top list). Paradoxically, the staff is also praised very often in reviews! The hotel is brand new, and it seems the team is still finding its feet.

7. Paragraph Freedom Square, a Luxury Collection Hotel

And here’s the first of the two Paragraphs — and the best example of how a chain should work. Five stars, Marriott’s Luxury Collection, right by Freedom Square.
The main highlight is the rooftop pool and spa with a panoramic view of Tbilisi. Every other review mentions them, and breakfast is described as a luxurious buffet. The bar with live music also deserves a special mention.
It’s the only hotel in the ranking with a real international footprint: Condé Nast Traveler and the Michelin Guide have written about it. If you want to see what a modern Georgian five-star hotel can be, start here. But check the prices first. Not everyone can afford this hotel…

An international five-star hotel in the center of Tbilisi, where the chain standard works exactly as promised. Guests call its location the best in the city.
Room size is a story of its own: “a giant room with a terrace” comes up in reviews more than once, and the rooms are mentioned more than anything else. The second strong point is the spa: guests praise the massage therapist as a professional who really helps after a long flight.
Breakfast is tasty, but it’s also what collects the most remarks and negative reviews. Apparently, the five-star bar raises expectations too.

9. Silver 39 Corner Hotel

A small hotel in a colorful quarter of old Tbilisi, but not on a noisy street. Location is its main trump card: 65% of guests mention it, more than anything else.
Value for money is mentioned here more often than at any other hotel in the ranking. People come for one night and stay for three — stories like that come up again and again in reviews.
Downside: the soundproofing is weak, and it can be noisy on weekends.

10. Paragraph Resort & Spa Shekvetili, Autograph Collection
Guria region, Ozurgeti Municipality, Shekvetili

The second Paragraph — this time on the coast, in Shekvetili. Five stars, Autograph Collection, and the largest property in the ranking: almost four and a half thousand reviews on Booking and three and a half thousand on Google Maps.
The main highlight here is a huge aquarium right in the lobby, with rays, sharks and moray eels. That’s exactly what guests call it: the hotel’s signature feature. Nobody else on this list has anything like it on this scale.
It’s a resort for families: the pools (the main one has heated seawater) are divided into kids’ and adults’ areas, the rooms are spacious, and some have two bathrooms. There’s a Japanese restaurant, lots of exotic greenery (even baobabs grow here!) and a well-planned layout of the grounds.
One caveat from returning guests: the hotel didn’t open yesterday, and in places it’s already a bit “tired.” Keep that in mind if you’re expecting everything to be brand new.
Batumi locals love coming here in the off-season: low prices and the chance to swim in warm seawater when it’s +10°C outside (the pool is outdoors, on a bridge over the sea) make it popular all year round.

11. Polifonia Inn Borjomi
Borjomi, Samtskhe-Javakheti

A family guest house in Borjomi with a layout that works really well for groups: three adults and a child fit comfortably in one room.
Staff and food each got 75% of mentions — no other hotel has this double maximum. Guests call the hostess Irina by name, and breakfasts are prepared with dietary needs in mind, which is rare for a guest house.
The second hotel from Borjomi in the ranking. And overall, it’s great that the top list isn’t just hotels from Tbilisi and Batumi. It’s good to see the regions keeping up with the big cities.
12. Puris Moedani Boutique Hotel
Tbilisi, Sololaki

A boutique hotel in Sololaki, the historic part of the city, with bars and restaurants within walking distance and all the sights reachable on foot. Many guests praise the location.
The hotel sells a picture, and does it well: a fresh renovation, a designer lobby that reviews mention as an experience in itself, and very comfortable mattresses and pillows.
Some rooms look out onto an abandoned building, so it’s best to check which room you’re getting when booking.

13. Siberia Hotel

A small hotel outside the tourist center — a taxi to the Old Town costs five to eight lari, but it’s close to the airport. Don’t let the name put you off.
Its main feature, which I haven’t come across in any other city hotel: family rooms with a separate room and a bunk bed for kids. Parents in the reviews are literally thrilled about it. A good example of a city hotel outside the center that found its own niche and became popular thanks to it (though of course it’s not only about that — the service and hospitality here are top-notch too).

14. Hotel Monday by DNT Group

The most “workhorse” option on the list: 1,845 reviews on Booking with a score of 9.7 — keeping the bar that high at such volume is the hardest thing of all. I’m not afraid to call this rating fantastic, and I strongly recommend taking a closer look at this hotel if you’re planning a trip to Georgia’s capital.
Chugureti district, just a stone’s throw from the center.
Guests praise the breakfast and spacious rooms above all, and they single out the housekeeping — as if it were a separate service. Even the toiletries in the rooms made it into the reviews: guests love how they smell.
It suits both tourists and business travelers (I often stay in this area myself).

15. Guest House Vista
Sighnaghi, Kakheti

A guest house in Sighnaghi — the “city of love,” as it’s called — in the very heart of Kakheti wine country. Green grounds, balconies with a view, high ceilings.
Food got 80% of mentions, the absolute maximum in the ranking. And it’s not just about the breakfasts: guests mention the owner’s homemade wine separately in their reviews, which is especially fitting for Kakheti.
The owner’s name is Roman, and in essence he is the hotel: he’ll welcome you, tell you about the region and treat you to coffee. Reviews regularly mention him together with a dog named Jenny — she’s clearly part of the program.
Book Guest House Vista.
What I took away from these dozens of hours of calculations. Eight of the fifteen hotels owe their place in the top to a specific person — an owner or manager whom guests call by name. Roman, Irina, Vika, Tamara, Eika. This isn’t a “service level,” it’s personal relationships, and no pool can replace them.
And one more observation. The only factor that pulls hotels both up and down at the same time is food. The kitchen is the riskiest thing a hotel takes on, and the most rewarding if it works out.
But we don’t travel for the breakfasts, do we?! Personally, I never lower a hotel’s score because of them.
