Glamping in Georgia

Sometimes you might feel the urge to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and spend a week in nature, surrounded by solitude and tranquility. However, we have all grown accustomed to the comforts of civilization and don’t wish to endure inconveniences, even among forests and mountains.

The solution is glamping. This type of accommodation began to emerge relatively recently— in the 2000s — and appeared in Georgia just six years ago, in 2018. The name is derived from two words — glamour camping — meaning enjoying nature with all the comforts.

What are the advantages of glamping? Comfort and tranquility, seclusion in your little house, the songs of birds, beautiful sunrises and sunsets outside the window. Also the intoxicating air filled with the scent of pine and meadow flowers. The list could go on and on.

Although, strictly speaking, glamping hotels are tents, it has become customary to also include cottage-type hotels located outside the city in this category. Therefore, we have included a couple of the best cottage options here, but the main focus is on tents.

Hill Inn

Let’s start with Hill Inn, a glamping site located in the village of Dandalo, Adjara. The hotel is quite small, consisting of 2 tents and 2 treehouses. Each room has its own name and unique features:

The tents “Gandagana” and “Galaxy” are equipped with projectors for movie watching and Marshal speakers, kitchens with all necessary appliances, bathrooms, and even a library and board games. Outside the tent, you’ll find your own veranda with wooden loungers, a hammock, and a fire pit. “Galaxy” even features a jacuzzi, where you can relax in a bubble bath while admiring the red evening sun setting behind the mountain peaks.

Many of us dreamed of living in a treehouse as children. Did childhood pass by without fulfilling that wish? No worries! At Hill Inn, you can realize your long-held childhood dream. The treehouses “Terabithia” and “Endorphin” are cozy and resemble bird nests nestled among the branches of tall trees. Not only do they look charming, but they are also fully equipped for comfortable living. They are two- and three-story structures with a kitchen, bathroom, double bed, and library.

Don’t forget about the wonderful panoramic views – enjoy the nature of the Caucasus from your treehouse window or on your private veranda while grilling lunch.

You can also relax in a sauna shaped like a giant log; order delicious meals to your room with a glass of wine; or enjoy a hookah. During the day, venture on a hike through the forest, collect herbarium specimens, and take stunning photos.

The glamping site is located just 70 kilometers from Batumi, making it easily accessible by taxi or hotel-provided transfer. A stay at Hill Inn offers an unforgettable adventure for both children and adults, from living in a treehouse to enjoying mountain landscapes and preparing your own barbecue on the veranda.

Woodhide

The Woodhide glamping site is located in the village of Zeda Chkhutuneti within Machakhela National Park. The hotel consists of only 2 houses, ensuring that other guests won’t be too bothersome. You might even make friends with the people in the neighboring unit and prepare a barbecue together.

The name Woodhide speaks for itself. Each of the cottages has an elongated shape resembling a tree trunk, and the entire interior is crafted from natural light wood. Inside the cottage, you’ll find everything you need: a soft bed, a bathroom, and a kitchen equipped with all necessary utensils. Large floral curtains, potted plants, and light tones create a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of a countryside home. One wall of the dwelling is entirely glass, offering a panoramic view of the park’s green surroundings.

Next to the window is a jacuzzi, making it even more enjoyable to admire nature while soaking in a bubble bath. Each cottage features its own small balcony with chairs, perfect for reading a book and enjoying morning coffee. A staircase leads down from the balcony to a barbecue and picnic area.

The glamping site is located 39 kilometers from Batumi, making it easy to reach by taxi or arranged transfer.

Woodhide is a romantic spot for cozy gatherings in a cottage, nature walks, and grilled vegetables and meats. Visit with your significant other or the whole family to enjoy an unforgettable holiday away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Eco House Merisi

Now, let me tell you about perhaps the most unusual and remarkable glamping hotel in this collection. It emerged recently, during the COVID era, but has already made a sensation in the hotel market circles. Eco House Merisi is the first of its kind — a hotel-aquarium nestled in the mountains of Adjara.

Why an aquarium? It earned this comparison thanks to its glass walls that offer a stunning view from an altitude of 850 meters above sea level. Just imagine: you’re lying in your cozy bedroom. Warm lights twinkle above, the stove crackles, and outside the window, the pine forest rustles, and majestic mountains lie dormant. On clear days, it’s great to spend time on the veranda, lying in a hammock or soaking in the bubbles of the jacuzzi. Eco House Merisi features 4 secluded cottages of different sizes and designs, along with 3 villas, some of which have a heated outdoor pool. Just imagine being surrounded by snow-covered forests and mountains while you swim in the pool.

The glamping’s Instagram-worthy breakfasts are worth mentioning separately. You can order a huge plate of fresh fruits, pastries, and a cup of coffee or juice right to your room. It’s also important to note that the ingredients for the table are grown right here in their garden.

Eco House Merisi is also fascinating for its photo zones. The creator of the idea ensured that you take home not only good memories and great mood but also stunning photos. Highlights include 6-meter swings right over a cliff, a glass VIP platform (often used for proposals or weddings), and, of course, the picturesque landscapes outside the window.

Eco House Merisi allows you to immerse yourself in mountain nature, sunsets, and sunrises, feeling like a hermit living in a wooden cabin in the Caucasus forests. Yet, your cabin will be equipped with all the amenities and comforts for living. Delicious breakfasts in the morning, plenty of entertainment, and a glass or two of wine for a pleasant evening.

Chateau Vartsikhe

Chateau Vartsikhe is located in the heart of Imereti, just a 15-minute drive from Kutaisi. The hotel spans 120 hectares and offers a variety of accommodations for guests: from tents to forest, family, and luxury cottages. You can choose the design, room size, and level of comfort that suits you best. All cottages feature those carved blue balconies that are a famous hallmark of Georgian architecture. Meanwhile, on the terraces of the tents, you can relax in a jacuzzi while admiring the fruit orchards and vineyards.

A special mention goes to the dining room — and bright, with wall-to-wall windows and an abundance of potted plants that lend it the atmosphere of a rustic summer home. It’s so cozy to sit in a wicker chair or on a couch. Enjoying a delicious breakfast while gearing up for a busy day. And the day will indeed be busy: there’s a pool, an artificial lake where you can boat or fish, a snail farm, basketball and volleyball courts.

Visit the hotel’s cellar for a wine tasting of their own production—experience the very vineyards you see outside your window. In the evening, head to the bar for a cocktail or two.

The hotel combines high-level service, a variety of accommodations, and a plethora of activities for guests. It’s the perfect time to see, try, and feel something new here at Chateau Vartsikhe!

Nika hotel and club

Nika Hotel and Club is a unique project without equal not only in Georgia but worldwide. Thanks to its location at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level, this glamping site offers you a retreat from the city noise, polluted air, and worldly hustle. In the near future, the plan includes only fresh mountain breezes, the coziness of a cottage, peace, and tranquility, and, of course, delicious food.

Since the Nika project belongs to the creator of Eco House, which was mentioned earlier, the hotels resemble each other. They feature the same glass-walled bedrooms with panoramic views and unique design, beautiful and delicious Instagram-worthy breakfasts, and in-room jacuzzis. Thanks to an adjustable blind system, you can partially close the large windows (allowing you to see the landscape while in the jacuzzi, but not be seen) or fully for complete privacy.

If you’re in the mood for something extra special, welcome to the terrace. There you’ll find a heated pool, which also serves as a magnificent observation deck. It’s a delight to lie in the warm water and watch clouds float over the forest, or perhaps the sun is setting right behind the towering treetops. In such moments, you truly feel how distant we are from nature and how pleasant it is to reconnect with it.

Nika boasts 14 photo zones for amateur and professional photo sessions. Whether it’s a composition with a giant khachapuri, swings hovering over a cliff, a nest in a tree just big enough for a person, the world’s largest wine horn, or a landing with a dense forest backdrop. The hotel ensures you leave with stunning shots for your social media 🙂

Another charming detail for visitors is the friendly goats of the local park, who love to play and take photos with guests. Both children and adults enjoy spending time, petting, and even talking to these four-legged mountain dwellers.

Nika Hotel and Club is more than just a glamping hotel. It’s a retreat where every detail is designed for maximum guest comfort. It breaks records with its unique features, popular design (often copied), and high-level service. Rest assured, choosing Nika will provide you with a magical vacation you’ll remember for years, revisiting the photos of unique locations and photo zones.

Mtirala Glamping

Mtirala Glamping is perfect for those seeking maximum seclusion! It consists of just 1 tent and 1 cottage. This tiny hotel is located in Chakvi, 25 kilometers from Batumi, making it easy to combine your glamping stay with exploring the resort capital of Georgia.

Tourists can choose between a room in a triangular cottage or a circular tent, but I would recommend the latter. This option is more intriguing because, first, the panoramic windows make up nearly half of the sphere. And second, it is situated on a platform right over the edge of a mountain. From the windows of the tent, there’s a magnificent view of Mtirala National Park.

Mtirala Glamping is very cozy and heartfelt, as is often the case with small hotels. The owners are more than happy to give you a tour of the park, share interesting stories about the area. And engage in friendly conversation! Guests particularly praise the breakfasts and dinners here.

Mtirala Glamping is a tiny, secluded spot amidst the dense forests of Mtirala Park. Come here with your significant other or family and rest assured that you will have an excellent vacation.

Glamping Tago

The final hotel in my collection is Glamping Tago, a cozy spot nestled among the forests and fields of Adjara, near the village of Tago.

The exterior and interior decor of all 7 tents in the glamping site resemble a Mongolian yurt. Inside, the floor is covered with a large patterned carpet, a soft double bed stands in the middle. And in the corner, there is a stove that crackles in the evenings, warming your cozy abode. Note: The yurt does not have separate bathrooms or toilets—they are shared. However, one of the showers is designed so that while bathing, you can enjoy the beauty of the mountainous Adjarian landscape.

In the large yurt of the glamping site, there’s a restaurant that is also well-known in the area. For a very budget-friendly price (up to 40 GEL), you can order a breakfast or lunch consisting of 7 dishes from Georgian or European cuisine. Moreover, throughout your stay, you can enjoy unlimited coffee and tea on the house.

Guests also have access to a variety of activities included in the price. You can partake in morning yoga sessions with a professional trainer, enjoy the tent sauna, and join nighttime gatherings around the campfire with other hotel guests.

If you are traveling by car, the hotel provides a secure parking area.

Glamping Tago is a place where you can feel like part of a close-knit community of nomads living in yurts, while still enjoying modern comforts like Wi-Fi, showers, and soft beds. It’s the perfect opportunity to make new friends and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
